South Brisbane Greek Club: Police fatally shoot man armed with knife


An man has died after police shot him in South Brisbane when he allegedly threatened officers with a knife.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said police were called to Edmondstone St, South Brisbane, about 3pm following reports a man in his 20s was armed.

She said the man allegedly threatened police with a knife before he was shot by officers outside of The Greek Club.

It’s understood he was shot multiple times in the chest.

The spokeswoman said a crime scene had been declared, as the matter was now under investigation.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Edmondstone Street will be closed between Russell and Vulture streets for several hours.

This is the second incident since October 1, 2022, where police have fatally shot a person.

A man also aged in his 20s and allegedly armed with a knife was fatally shot by police in Airlie Beach on October 1.
