Queensland business applauded for inclusive ad

A Queensland business that took a unique approach to advertising an available job has won hearts across the country with an adorable detail.

At first glance, the ad could have easily been mistaken for an online listing from a personal trainer looking for a new client to transform for some “before and after” promotional shots.

“Position available for the right person. We will pay you to lose those unwanted Kg’s and build muscles you never thought you had,” the ad, posted to Facebook on Thursday, read.

The true target audience however was revealed in the next line, when the ad revealed it was seeking a tyre fitter – not someone looking to overhaul their lifestyle.

“Believe it or not. Tyre fitting keeps you fit and strong. It’s like being at the gym all day except we are paying you to be a member. Everyone is a winner,” the ad read.

The author said the business, Bridgestone Noosa, simply wanted a “great person that has a bit of determination”, and said the job was “a great environment to learn skills that will stay with you for life”.

They went on to list how little focus would be placed on gender, age and identity during the hiring process.

“Young is OK. Old is OK. Female is OK. Male is OK. Any make or model is welcome. Effort is what we reward,” the ad read.

“As long as you are keen to identify as a tyre fitter we are interested in talking to you. We offer a fun, busy and inclusive environment.”

The successful applicant was not required to have experience, only that they “can learn and get the job done”.

Those considering applying were told, “don’t be shy” and urged to contact the store.

The sweet ad was fast applauded for its inclusivity and positivity, with some agreeing it was the best job ad they had ever seen.

Others said the ad almost made them consider dropping their existing career to go into tyre fitting.

“This awesome ad makes me want to reconsider my career and become a tyre fitter,” one respondent wrote in a comment.

“Great ad, so good to see such positivity and inclusion,” another wrote.

“Love your ad. Great to see an ad that is inclusive. All the very best in finding the right person,” a third said.
