Spare: Prince Harry’s ex Catherine Ommanney says he’s ‘dug himself into a great big hole’

A TV star who claims she once had a two-month fling with Prince Harry says the royal has “dug himself into a great big hole” following the release of his bombshell memoir.

Speaking with UK news channel GB News’ Dan Wootton Tonight, available to stream on Flash, Catherine Ommanney expressed her concern for the Duke of Sussex, saying he seems “sadder” than ever.

“I haven’t read his book and I’m in no mad rush to read it,” the Real Housewives of DC star said.

“But I am shocked at how he appears. I’ve got no idea why he’s done this. He says he’s happy, but he doesn’t look happy.

“He looks the saddest I’ve ever known him to look.”

The British reality TV star said she wished Harry had married someone like his sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

“I would have loved for him to have ended up with someone like Kate who is suitable to the role,” she said.

“But, in fact he’s in my opinion, chosen somebody almost the polar opposite.

“And I genuinely feel really sad because I think he’s dug himself into a great big hole.”

The interior designer added that Harry is “not the guy” she met years ago.

“I know it was a long time ago but I definitely think that he’s not the person I met at all,” she said.

The divorcee, now 50, said she was a 34-year-old mother of two when she met Harry, who was just 21 at the time.

The pair met at Art Bar in London’s Chelsea in 2006 and claims they went on a number of dates.

The fling was dealt a blow when news of the relationship broke.

After two more dates, Harry changed his number and Catherine did not see him again until 2009, when they bumped into each other at a polo match in Barbados.

Catherine lifted the lid after learning that Harry was writing about his ex-girlfriends in his book, Spare.

“I doubt I will be in Harry’s book as a prince can’t run off with a 34-year-old mother-of-two, it’s just not the done thing,” she told The Sun.

Harry was paid an estimated $40 million for a four-book deal and his first memoir has delved into private behind-the-scenes conversations with his family.

The privacy of virtually none of the British Royal Family has been spared in the 407-page book.

Readers were stunned by his accounts of a fight with his brother William in his kitchen and private conversations with his elder sibling and father King Charles.

He documents clashing with William over the Sussexes’ Oprah Winfrey interview and describes how his father begged his sons “please, boys, don’t make my final years a misery”.

Earlier this week, Harry claimed that he wants “reconciliation” talks with his family.

He told ITV’s Tom Bradby: “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back.”

But he said he would now only speak to them again if it remained private.
