Outback Wrangler: Two women injured at Top End Safari Camp owned by Matt Wright

Two tourists have been injured in a boat crash at a safari camp owned by Outback Wrangler star Matt Wright.

The two women were visiting the Top End Safari Camp, 118km southwest of Darwin, when the incident occurred on an airboat.

NT WorkSafe is investigating the incident after they were notified that “an airboat used for a tourist cruise crashed in the Bynoe region” at 11.15am on Wednesday.

There were 12 passengers on the boat when the incident occurred but only two were injured.

The pair were airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital by CareFlight for treatment after the incident.

One woman received head injuries and the other suffered an injury to her leg.

The 43-year-old and 54-year-old women both remain in a stable condition at RDH.

“NT WorkSafe Inspectors are currently at the incident site and have commenced an inquiry into the incident to determine the appropriate regulatory response,” a spokesman said.

Top End Safari Camp said two passengers required medical assistance after the incident at Sweets Lagoon.

“We will be working with authorities to review the incident in due course. At the moment our focus is exclusively on supporting those passengers and staff involved.” a spokesperson for the camp told NT News.

The incident comes just over a year from the death of Mr Wright’s Outback Wrangler co-star Chris ‘Willow’ Wilson in a helicopter crash while collecting crocodile eggs.

Mr Wright was charged along with two other men in relation to an alleged conspiracy to destroy evidence from the crash.

He has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, destroying and fabricating evidence, unlawful entry to a building and a dwelling, making a false declaration and issuing threats in relation to a criminal investigation.
