Schapelle Corby is in Perth and has shared on Instagram that she has taken a tour of the historic Fremantle Prison.
Yes, that’s right. The same Schapelle Corby who spent nine years in Kerobokan Prison in Bali for smuggling 4.2kg of marijuana into Indonesia in her boogie board bag, Perth Now reports.
After her denial of committing the crime, she was initially sentenced to 20 years in prison and spent nine years behind bars when she was released on parole in 2014.
Since then, Corby has found her way back to the front gates of a jail, however this time, as a visitor.
The 45-year-old enjoyed the eerie night tour of the prison, followed by a beer at the pub, which she shared her adventures on her Instagram in a series of photos.
“Bloody hell, who’d have thought I’d be interested to do a prison tour hey! I do love history so was very intrigued to do a night-time tour of this world heritage historical prison by torchlight, of cause.”
Corby told PerthNow that she will be “coming back” to WA.
“Beautiful city. So clean. Welcoming. Friendly. Rich historical history,” she said.
“I’ve really loved Fremantle and Rottnest Island.”
Earlier this year Schapelle celebrated her ninth year of out of prison and her sixth year of being home in Australia, sharing a selfie to Instagram with the caption, “Live life without barriers,” and “Six years anniversary.” After she was deported back to Australia in 2017, Corby now spends her days as a bespoke clockmaker living on the Gold Coast.
