Groom caught on phone texting while walking down the aisle with bride

A groom who appears to be texting while walking down the aisle with his new bride is copping serious criticism.

Footage of the unidentified newlyweds leaving a church after saying “I do” has been widely shared by outraged social media users after many spotted the groom was on his phone as he walked hand-in-hand with his new wife.

On Twitter, the clip has been viewed more than 40 million times, with many declaring: “This marriage is over.”

In the alarming video, which was originally shared by TikTok user @CynthiaUmunze and has since been deleted, the groom appears to be virtually glued to his device as his bride gives guests a beaming smile while they exit the church.

Once outside, the bride appears to confront her new husband about his phone faux pas, and the pair share what seems to be a few cross words.

However, the issue is quickly dropped as the couple walked down the stairs, and the bride gives a wide smile to the camera.

But it’s fair to say, social media users weren’t buying it, with many it was “disrespectful” and doesn’t bode well for their future.

“He’s a clown for being on that damn phone,” one TikTok user remarked.

“Who on earth is he texting?” another pressed.

While one simply said: “So disrespectful.”

On Twitter, the groom didn’t fare much better, with many urging the bride to “get an annulment”.

“This is insane… disrespectful and condescending. Totally uncalled for,” one said.

“Imagine on your day not being happy,” another speculated.

As another raged: “Nothing. Absolutely nothing is that important…There is no defence for this.”

More were curious by the apparent phone activity, calling for more information.

While many speculated about the state of the marriage, a second video from their big day shows the pair dancing and having a great time at their reception.

Other social media users wished the couple well, and showered praise on the bride for handling the situation so well.

“You behaved like a queen,” one said.

“She’s a better woman than me, I would have gone berserk,” another wrote.
