A police sergeant will face court charged with a drug offence after he was allegedly caught supplying cocaine in Sydney’s inner west.
Acting on a warrant, NSW Police investigators searched a unit in Newtown at about 7.40pm on Saturday where they arrested the 42-year-old man.
Police said they seized cocaine and other items relevant to their investigation from the unit.
Detectives launched the investigation their colleague in October, acting on a referral to the NSW Police Professional Standards Command as part of an investigation into the supply of cocaine.
The Professional Standards Command is an internal body responsible for setting performance, conduct and integrity standards within NSW Police.
The man – a sergeant attached to a command in the Central Metropolitan Region – was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug.
He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Bankstown Local Court on December 22.
The officer is not currently in the workplace and his employment status is under review, police said in a statement.
