New Year Solutions trend | news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site

This year instead of your social media feed getting clogged up with people sharing their resolutions, you’ll see everyone is curating their own lists of what is “in and out” for 2023.

Thankfully, they aren’t enforceable by law, so I can happily ignore any list that declares naps and sensible shoes are out.

So what is in and out?

Well, just like resolutions, everyone’s is looking a little different. The general vibe is diet trends are out, and being kind to yourself is very in.

Influencer Flex Mami, who has over 166,000 followers, compiled a list that included what she was embracing and distancing herself from in 2023.

Her ‘ins’ included emotional vulnerability and analysing your dreams, and her ‘outs’ included assuming the worst intent and crippling self-esteem issues.

Sarah’s Day, who came to fame for being a fitness guru on YouTube, took to TikTok to share her list. Sarah’s ‘ins’ included baking her own bread and gardening. Basically, Sarah’s taking a wholesome and more slowed down approach to 2023.

In contrast, her ‘outs’ included brown clothing and setting a goal of doing a certain amount of weekly workouts.

Meanwhile, author Jamila Rizvi posted her list to Instagram and shared that this year she was embracing sunny days and linen bed sheets and kicking to the curb voice memos and charcoal anything.

Comedian Samantha Andrews, who is constantly going viral on TikTok, revealed that the colour maroon and soy lattes are out and nutritional yeast and affection with friends are very in.

Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews the masterminds behind the successful pop culture podcast Shameless also shared a joint list to their 200,000 Instagram followers that included body shimmer and Carbonara being in and dating Pete Davidson and overusing the word “toxic” being very out.

Podcaster Harry Hill and self-proclaimed vibe curator turned his list into a pop culture prediction where he declared Leonardo DiCaprio would date someone older than 25 and that Paris Hilton would get pregnant in 2023.

So what are you ditching and introducing in 2023? As long as we stop trying to bring back low-rise jeans I’ll be happy.

Often resolutions can be a downer but these viral lists are feeling more fun and silly and it is exactly the vibe 2023 needs.
