Cadbury sends Coles customer $10 voucher for botched pineapple chocolate


A chocolate lover has opened up a block of her favourite Cadbury treat only to find there was no filling inside.

The customer, who posts on social media under the name @ThisEthnicLife, said her husband came home from Coles with a block of Cadbury Tropical Pineapple.

But, when they opened it, there was no filling or back to the product.

“It’s literally the Cadbury shell with no filling,” the woman laughed at the discovery.

She said it had never happened before, but asked Cadbury for answers on what went wrong.

“This is just bizarrio,” she said.

Social media good naturedly poked fun at the issue, with one joking her husband had picked up the “diet block”.

Another said: “This is the perfect block of pineapple chocolate in my opinion.”

“Accidentally bought from Ikea, it needs assembly,” another joked.

One added: “I reckon it’s better like this.”

The woman kept the chocolate in a tupperware container for a handful of weeks, after she called Cadbury for answers.

She said the support team were receptive to her issue and sent her an email with a gift voucher to remedy the issue.

Initially, the woman was sent a $5 voucher, which is 50 cents less than the cost of the chocolate, but news.com.au understands this was done in error.

The woman was then sent a $10 voucher, with the amount varying dependent on the cost of the item originally purchased.

“We’re sorry to hear about this recent experience. Our teams work exceptionally hard to deliver high-quality and great tasting chocolate for each and every Cadbury fan,” a spokesperson from Cadbury told news.com.au.

“While experiences like this are incredibly rare, we encourage any unhappy fans to speak directly with our consumer care team to receive a credit to make a new purchase.”

In 2021, Cadbury factories in Australia produced 66000 tonnes of chocolate.
