MAFS 2023: Everything you need to know, premiere date and cast details

Married At First Sight hasn’t even aired yet, and already, we’ve been introduced to a single mother who wants you to know she’s not a regular mum, but a sexy mum.

The hit dating series returns Monday night with the first episode of 2023, and a short teaser has done enough to whet our appetites for peak cringe-worthy television.

Meet Melissa, 41, a single mum from Sydney’s northern beaches.

The humble hairdresser acknowledges she may look like the girl next door – but she’s anything but once that door is closed.

“I like to see myself, actually, as a little freak in the sheets,” she says in a teaser posted to the MAFS Twitter page Friday.

“I’m no regular mum. Warning, warning! I’m sassy, loud and I love to spice things up. I love role playing. Sex is huge for me.”

Sneak peek footage then plays from the hens night, which takes place in the premiere before the brides meet their grooms at the altar, where Melissa continues to express her love for, well, making love.

“My dream guy is Thor. Oh, he’s big. Big hammer,” she tells the fellow brides. “As I get older, sex is very important to me. I say I’m a freak in the sheets, you know what I mean.”

This year marks the tenth season of MAFS, and yet again, producers appear to have upped the ante in terms of finding the most colourful characters for TV.

Among the 20 brides and grooms, we have “pocket rocket” Bronte, 28, from WA, whose Instagram page is a smorgasbord of glamorous bikini photos.

But it appears there’s trouble in paradise between the influencer and whoever she’s matched with, as another teaser shows fellow bride, Queensland-based Melinda, 32, urging Bronte to “run”.

“I do have advice for Bronte – run, fast,” Melinda is seen saying in the trailer.

Elsewhere among the mix is WA TikTok star Janelle, 28, who has 500,000 followers on the platform, while 27-year-old NSW-based PR manager Tahnee is “sick of dating apps” and ready to settle down.

On the groom front, we have NSW construction manager, Harrison, 32, as well as “cocky and confident” entrepreneur Adam, 35, from Queensland.

There’s also semi-retired marketing tycoon Dan, 42, a single dad from the Gold Coast who drives a Porsche 911.

Elsewhere, the resident MAFS experts are back again this year, with John Aiken, Mel Schilling and clinical sexologist Alessandra Rampolla set to help the couple’s navigate their transition into married life.

Viewers can expect drama aplenty, with Nine declaring the show will return with “the same successful formula but with a few new twists and turns.”

The network also teased “the biggest wedding shock in MAFS history”, which judging by one of the preview trailers, will include Bronte.

A woman is seen pulling Bronte aside, saying, “I need to tell you something”, before the video flashes of the bride looking furious.

“From the very first wedding, the new season is dynamite,” the trailer added.

MAFS premieres Monday, January 30 on Nine at 7.30pm
