A Sydney woman put out a desperate call for help on a community Facebook group after she forgot to get a man’s number when they hit it off at a harbourside pool.
The pair met near MacCallum Seawater Pool at Cremorne Point over the weekend after she emerged from the pool and found the mystery man sitting on the grass with his dog.
“I couldn’t resist going over to pat an adorable Moodle called Leon, whose human was lounging under a tree shirtless reading How to Win Friends and Influence People (unsure if red flag?),” the woman wrote in an anonymous post to the Mosman Living group.
“We had a nice chat, I admired his lovely dark eyes, he patted my parents’ dog but I was too shy to ask for his number.”
After struggling to find a match on dating apps, the woman decided to take a leap of faith and ask for help from the group’s 40,000 members to connect her with the man.
“I‘m on dating apps and not having a whole heap of success, so having a yolo moment and trying something different ha help a girl out,” she said.
“Didn’t even get his name and he mightn’t be single, but does anyone have any leads on a man who matches this description?”
The man was reportedly aged around 30, lived in Cremorne Point and had a moodle called Leon who was wearing a chequered handkerchief.
Incredibly, a friend of the man made the connection within hours and reached out privately to the woman.
“Connection made,” they posted in the comments. “Leaving the rest up to them.”
Before connecting with the man, however, the woman made sure to confirm the interest was not unrequited.
“Are you able to suss and let me know if there is any interest at all before I lose whatever shred of dignity I might have left,” she wrote.
“Group member can confirm he is interested,” the person wrote back.
The lucky woman hopped back into the post to share that she had reconnected with the man and thanked the crowd for the support.
“To the couple of people who pointed out that this could be a violation of privacy, valid point!” she wrote.
“I didn‘t think of that when I posted on a whim but fortunately he doesn’t seem too worried by that.
“We’ve been connected. Thanks for all the support.”
