Dustin Martin: Richmond Tigers star’s stolen car used to ram cops

AFL star Dustin Martin has had his car stolen and used to ram a police car.

The Richmond Tigers midfield forward wasn’t driving the black Range Rover at the time; he’d loaned it to a mate who went to fill up at a petrol station along Barkly St in St Kilda about 9pm on January 23.

According to Seven News, he left the keys in the ignition, and a man stole the vehicle.

It was later spotted by police on the same street about 1.55am when the man allegedly tried to speed off in the car, hitting an unmarked police vehicle and another car.

The Range Rover became stuck and the driver allegedly tried to flee on foot but was arrested soon after.

A woman in the stolen car was also arrested, with drugs also allegedly being found in the vehicle.

A 29-year-old Springvale man and a 22-year-old Safety Beach woman have appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on a string of offences.

In 2019, Martin made headlines due to his vehicular exploits after leaving his car parked at the MCG for two months.

The Brownlow medallist left the vehicle there following the Tigers’ grand final win over Greater Western Sydney before heading overseas to celebrate, eventually picking up his car in December.

It’s unclear if that vehicle was the same black Range Rover.
