A teenage boy has been charged with murder after the body of an Uber driver was found in southeast Queensland.
Scott Cabrie, 47, was last seen leaving a home at about 6pm on February 6.
His car was found burnt out the following day and he was reported missing four days later.
His friends sounded the alarm on social media after not hearing from the Hervey Bay local for close to a week.
“Come home mate where are you,” one friend posted on Facebook on Sunday morning.
A few hours later, his body was found near a boat ramp.
About 6.25pm on Sunday, police officers attended a home where they arrested an 18-year-old Sunshine Acres man.
He has since been charged with murder, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, arson, armed robbery and deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain.
He has been refused police bail and will appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Monday.
A 17-year-old man was also charged with one count each of robbery and deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain.
His bail has been refused and he will appear before Hervey Bay Children’s Court.
Police launched a widespread search operation in Pacific Haven after finding the 47-year-old’s burnt out car.
The search used police officers, drone technology, water police and SES volunteers.
Investigations into the circumstances of the man’s death remain ongoing.
