Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun have called off their engagement, less than a year since he proposed.
News of the couple’s split after two years of dating comes just one day after the punk princess 38, was spotted having dinner with Kylie Jenner’s ex boyfriend, US rapper Tyga.
Lavigne and Sun’s decision to go their separate ways was first reported byTMZ, with a source telling the outlet more about the split.
An insider close to the now-former couple claimed the two had tried to make things work recently, going “on and off” over the last few months, but failed to get on the right track.
Another source told People: “Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple.”
The Complicated singer was spotted leaving swanky restaurant Nobu Malibu with Tyga on Monday, who has a colourful dating history.
The two were seen hugging as they exited the sushi spot before leaving in the same car.
However, TMZ’s source claims there is nothing romantic the Sk8er Boi songstress and the Taste rapper.
Lavigne and 35-year-old Sun, who is a singer and rapper, were last seen together at a pre-Grammy’s event earlier this month to support their friend and collaborator Machine Gun Kelly.
Things also appeared to be good between the two in August last year when Lavigne was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside Sun.
The two musicians first met in January 2021 and quickly collaborated on the song Flames the same month.
By February they were publicly dating, and Sun got down on one knee for a romantic proposal in Paris the following April.
Both shared a series of photos from their picturesque engagement which took place by The Seine river with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
If Lavigne would have gone through on her marriage plans with Sun, real name Derek Smith, it would have been her third wedding.
She was previously married to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010, and then wed Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger from 2013 to 2015.
In between, she dated Kylie and Kendall Jenner’s half-brother, Brody Jenner.
Lavigne and Sun are yet to release statements on their split.
