Pink says Madonna ‘doesn’t like’ her after awkward ‘fangirl’ encounter

Pink claimed her childhood idol Madonna “doesn’t like” her after they had an awkward encounter nearly 20 years ago.

“Some people just don’t like me,” Pink, 43, admitted to Howard Stern on Wednesday. “I’m a polarising individual.”

When Stern pointed out that Madonna, 64, is also a “polarising individual”, Pink agreed but added that she grew up being the Queen of Pop’s biggest fan.

“F – k, I loved her,” the singer said.

Pink explained that Madonna’s beef with her started behind the scenes of their appearance on a morning talk show in November 2003.

“She tried to kind of play me on ‘Regis and Kelly,’ and I’m not the one, so [it] didn’t work out,” she said coyly before Stern, 69, prompted her to further explain.

“It’s just such a silly story. I f – king love Madonna, and I love her no matter what. I still love her no matter what. She was such an inspiration to me, but it sort of got twisted around that I was, like, fangirling and was dying to meet Madonna when in actuality she invited me into her dressing room,” Pink recalled.

“And so I just said a joke when Regis [Philbin] brought me out and said, ‘I heard you were just falling over yourself backstage. How does it feel?’ I’m like, ‘I thought she wanted to meet me’.”

But she thinks the joke did not sit well with Madge. “It didn’t work out. It didn’t work out for us,” she recounted, with Stern interjecting, “Madonna took the joke personally.”

The radio host then joked that Madonna was secretly in his studio to fight Pink, prompting his guest to burst out into laughter.

Interestingly, Pink recently shared that Madonna wanted her to be a part of her and Britney Spears’ infamous kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2003, three months before their run-in.

“I think we all were [invited],” she revealed during an interview on KTU 103.5 earlier this week. “I think Madonna wanted to kiss all of us. I was in Costa Rica at the time, having all kinds of fun with my boyfriend, Carey Hart.

“Gwen Stefani was also invited, I remember. It was a bunch of us.”

Pink and Hart, 47, married in 2006 and now share two kids: daughter Willow, 11, and son Jameson, 6.

She added of the planned awards show performance, “It was going to be a party. It would’ve been a really weird party”.

If only they could have kissed and made up.

Madonna’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
