The billionaire co-founder of Canva has opened up for the first time about becoming a mother.
Melanie Perkins and husband Cliff Obrecht welcomed their first child together last year but have shared very little with the world about becoming parents while running one of the countries most successful tech empires.
The couple co-founded the tech giant along with business partner Cameron Adams in Perth in 2013.
“It‘s been fun,” Perkins said in an interview with The Australian.
“Really fun.”
The couple who are worth an estimated $10bn married on Rottnest Island in 2021 but their private life has remained incredibly private.
Perkins Instagram account @melaniecanva, boasts 23.1K followers but only three posts to the grid.
The last photo she shared was of her cuddling her little brother’s rescue dog, Pumba in January 2019.
Obrecht – who has no personal social media presence – previously told Fortune he did not want to raise “incredibly wealthy little children that are little snots”.
Canva is facing challenging times ahead as tech industry leaders like Atlassian, Meta, Twitter and Saleforce all report major lay-offs due to the looming economic crisis.
It was also one of many international companies who had funds in Silicon Valley Bank when it collapsed earlier this month.
The company is currently earning more than $1.4bn in revenue each year, Perkins told The Australian.
Australia has the fifth-highest number of female billionaires in the world, according to new data from City Index.
