Shawn Mendes’ crop top look is inspired by Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Brad Pitt and Christian Wilkins

Singer Shawn Mendes has opened up about his love of wearing crop tops, and it is the 2023 vibe that we all need.

Mendes, known for being a teen idol, previously dating singer Camila Cabello and having perfect hair, has shared how he loves a bit of stomach cleavage.

“I think the crop tops are just… they’re super beautiful,” the Canadian pop singer-songwriter said in a video posted on TikTok.

Mendes also said that he thought men shouldn’t be afraid to embrace a belly shirt.

“They look great on men, so don’t be afraid to pick them up, guys. They look good.” the 24-year-old said.

The video of Mendes sharing his crop top views quickly went viral on TikTok with plenty of fans applauding his statement.

One commented: “I’m changing my whole wardrobe to crops.”

Another added: “unproblematic king.”

The crop top had a real moment in the early 2000s when Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Christina Aguilera were constantly spotted with their belly buttons on display.

Traditionally, only women have embraced the crop top, but Mendes has been helping make them cool for men by posing in one for a recent Tommy Hilfiger campaign.

Mendes is not the only famous man that is strutting away from traditional masculine fashion norms.

Harry Styles, Brad Pitt, Pete Davidson, Lil Nas X, Travis Barker and Christian Wilkins have all been spotted wearing skirts and playing around with fashion.

Wilkins famously wore a backless dress to The Logies red carpet, and Styles is known for wearing everything from dresses to skirts to feather boas.

Ignoring old fashion gendered dressing isn’t just for the young and woke.

Actor Brad Pitt made headlines last year when he rocked up on the red carpet to promote his new movie Bullet Train wearing a skirt.

When asked why he chose his outfit, Pitt said: “I don’t know. We are all die, so let’s mess it up.”
