Ute road rage: Two Toyota HiLux drivers caught in alleged road rage incident in Bankstown

Two ute drivers allegedly became locked in a vicious dispute that unfolded over multiple hours leaving three people injured.

The dispute began when two Toyota Hiluxes pulled up on Restwell Street in Bankstown in Sydney’s west about 8.40pm on Tuesday night.

Three passengers inside the HiLux model were reportedly arguing with the driver of a black HiLux.

Both cars drove off from the scene but the alleged road rage incident came to a head when the cars collided at the intersection of Macauley Street.

The cars collided a second time before the black ute drove away.

The three passengers of the white vehicle – aged 21, 33, and 44 – went to Bankstown Police Station where they reported the incident.

When they left the police station at 9.30pm and drove back past the scene, they allege the same black ute was waiting and a third collision occurred.

Police then received multiple triple-0 calls reporting that three people were being assaulted by up to eight people near Restwell Street.

Officers were on the scene within minutes, but the group had vanished.

Paramedics treated the three people from the white ute for minor injuries.

As inquiries continue police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident – or any available mobile phone or dashcam footage – to contact Bankstown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
