How to get a McFlurry for $1.70: Aussie mum’s gamechaning hack

A savvy mum has shared a clever trick to score McFlurrys for her kids for a fraction of the price.

Taking to the Mums on a Budget Facebook group, mum Charlotte shared the tip that saw her spending less than five bucks for two ice-creams.

Not only was it thrifty but she also said they were the perfect size to feed her little ones without any going to waste.

Many group members praised the idea for being a “gamechanger” and vowed never to pay full price for a McFlurry again.

“This is the perfect size for my kids”

Charlotte shared a picture of two mini soft serves served in a lid, served with mini M&Ms and a spoon. They look just like a mini McFlurry, yet cost her less than half the price.

She paid just $3.40 for two, whereas two McFlurrys would have cost her $8.

“When the kids are asking for ice creams whilst we’re out and about this is my go-to,” she said.

“It works out way cheaper than a McFlurry or even the ice cream man – who was charging $6 each for a small soft serve. Especially if you’re buying a few.”

She also said that “My girls are only five and two and they would never finish a whole McFlurry each so this is the perfect size for them.”

And Charlotte also shared a photo of her order, so people can follow suit. She asked for a soft serve cone served in a lid and added M&M Mini toppings.

“A hero has come along”

Many fellow mums thanked Charlotte for the hack, while others revealed they’d been doing it forever and also shared their own spins on the trick.

One person said, “A hero has come along.” And another added: “I didn’t know you could do this!!!”

“This is an awesome Maccas hack!” another member wrote.

“I do this regularly because I’m sick of the mess of cones,” one woman revealed.

Then this mum agreed with Charlotte, saying, “So smart, quite often McFlurries are big serves for a little one so this works perfectly.”

“We do this too and sometimes add a flake,” someone else shared.

While this mum wrote, “My daughter is coeliac so can’t have the cone, so we do this a lot too.”

A different person wrote, “My husband does this too but gets a side of ice cream in a lid to go with his apple pie.”

And of course, there were tons of nostalgic comments reminding everyone that soft serves used to be 30 cents.

Oh, the good old days!

Those prices show no sign of ever returning, but at least our wallets can be a little happier with this hack!
