Met Gala afterparty: Stars wear revealing outfits

If you thought this year’s Met Gala outfits were outrageous, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

While many celebs opted for tasteful attire in keeping with this year’s theme – a tribute to late, iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld – it seems all bets were off when it came to the Met afterparties.

Celebs including Olivia Wilde, Emily Ratajkowski and Kendall Jenner wore sheer, revealing outfits to party the night away after formalities were over.

But the night ended on a sour note for at least one celeb, with Kylie Jenner reportedly barred from entering club owner Richie Akiva, Doja Cat and Diddy’s party because it was overcrowded.

“They wouldn’t let her in,” a witness told Page Six. “They shut the door down because it was over capacity.”

Kylie’s sister Kendall and her rumoured boyfriend were inside the party – but Kylie gave up after being among the 100-odd people stuck outside in “chaotic” scenes.

Here are some of the highlights from those who could get into the Met Gala afterparties …

Supermodel Em Rata went sheer, in this slightly ’80s Madonna-esque ensemble:

Actor/director Olivia Wilde wore a daring loose, hole-filled dress:

Singer Janelle Monae – who’d earlier stripped off on the red carpet in one of the night’s most attention-grabbing moments – kept the clothes-free theme going for the afterparty:

Model Joan Smalls continued the trend of black, sheer fabric:

Met Queen Rihanna showed off her burgeoning baby bump:

Margot Robbie, who looked stunning on the red carpet in a recreation of a 1993 gown, changed into a mini-dress fit for Barbie herself:

White Lotus breakout star Aubrey Plaza looked uber-cool in a mini-dress and leather jacket combo:

Rita Ora, who along with husband Taika Waititi was a contender for best-dressed couple to walk the red carpet, went pants-free to party:

And finally, Kim Kardashian, who kept her Met Gala outfit on for the afterparty but perhaps shouldn’t have: The fragile, pearl-covered ensemble looked to be disintegrating by the minute.

Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez took her lookalike little sister Lynda as her date to the Stella McCartney and Baz Luhrmann-hosted Met afterparty, with journalist and broadcaster Lynda dubbing the event a “Mama’s night out”.

Earlier, stunt-happy pop star Lil Nas X arrived at the Met Gala wearing nothing but a G-string and a lot of body paint, while actor Jared Leto disappeared inside a giant furry animal suit to pay tribute to Lagerfeld’s beloved feline, Choupette.

Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain turned heads with her new look, a tribute to Lagerfeld’s own distinctive personal style that rendered the usually red-headed actress truly unrecognisable.
