New photos have emerged of an alleged vandal spray painting a Hindu temple in Western Sydney.
Officers were called to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandiron temple in Rosehill on Friday morning after reports the outside walls had been vandalised.
Detective believe the incident occurred between 1am and 2am that day.
Police have now released images of a person recorded near the temple around the time of the alleged vandalism.
The person is wearing dark clothing, a dark beanie and a face mask.
A second image shows a vehicle last seen travelling on Virginia Street toward James Ruse Drive in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police believe the occupants of the vehicle may have information or possibly dashcam vision which could assist investigators.
It is not known if the vehicle and person are connected in any way.
Superintendent Sheridan Waldau said she believes the person or the occupants of the car could provide “crucial” information to the investigation but assured them that any information will be treated with the “strictest confidence”.
“NSW Police works closely with members of a widely-diverse community in western Sydney, and it’s disappointing that actions such as these can cause unnecessary distress,” she said.
“Police rely on the support of the local community to provide information so it can be investigated, but it’s important to know that information provided will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
