Gold Coast fitness influencer Ashy Bines details ‘awful’ Jetstar flight after falling ill

Gold Coast fitness influencer Ashy Bines has detailed her horrific flight after revealing she fell ill before boarding.

The 34-year-old, together with husband Steve Evans and their son Taj, 6, and daughter Tala, 1, were heading home from Bali on Sunday when things took an unexpected turn at Denpasar Airport.

Ashy told her one million Instagram followers she “spewed a few times” at the airport and also “every 20 minutes” on board the Jetstar flight – which was delayed by an hour-and-a-half.

“I think it must have been something we all ate at breakfast,” she said in an Instagram story.

“I spewed a couple of times but I was like, ‘No, it’s not enough to knock me out, I’ll be OK.’

“And then as I stepped on to the plane, I handed the tickets over and I literally fainted.”

Ashy said she “fully collapsed” and wasn’t sure how long she was out for.

“I grabbed Steve’s hand and he was holding Tala and caught me just in time. Poor Taj was absolutely distraught seeing me faint, so he would not leave my side.”

When the family boarded, Ashy sat with her son while Steve was with their daughter.

“The whole flight Taj and I were just spewing, probably like every 20 minutes,” Ashy said.

“At one point I was spewing in my spew bag and I was holding Taj’s spew bag and he was bawling his eyes because it’s so uncomfortable and scary for kids.

“It was just awful.”

Ashy said her husband was feeling fine up until he put their daughter in the bassinet on the plane.

“Steve didn’t feel sick at the airport – not until he put Tala in the bassinet and then he started spewing.

“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh we’re all going down.’ It was horrific; it was so, so tough. Was the toughest flight I’ve ever had.”

Meanwhile, a man on the same flight described it as the “the worst flight I have ever been present on” after being seated next to “sick passengers”.

“Before takeoff until after we landed there was someone being constantly sick,” passenger James Foley told Yahoo News Australia.

“When boarding, one passenger physically fainted and they were then continually sick the whole flight,” he added, saying staff should not have allowed ill passengers to board the plane.

“It was absolutely horrible. It wasn’t just them, multiple people on the plane were unwell.”

He said the odour from the vomiting was “disgusting”.

“We couldn’t eat or rest as the vomiting was the whole flight. It was non-stop.”

A Jetstar spokesperson told news.com.au they were sorry to hear these customers were unwell and acknowledged it would have been an unpleasant experience for others sitting near them.

“Our customer team is reaching out to Ms Bines and Mr Foley as well as our crew members to better understand what happened,” the spokesperson added.

“Customers who are too sick to fly should contact us before travelling or speak to our crew so we can help with their booking and consider alternative travel arrangements.”
