Cyclist dead, Maclean: Police investigate fatal collision between cyclist and bus


A cyclist was found dead after colliding with a bus on a suburban road in the Northern Rivers region.

Emergency services were called to River Street in Maclean just before 6pm, following reports of a crash involving a bus and a cyclist.

Police officers attended the scene and found a cyclist dead at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 55.

The bus driver, 42 and sole passenger on the bus were uninjured.

He was taken to Maclean Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are calling on anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.

A crime scene was established and has been examined by specialist police from the Far North Coast Crash Investigation Unit.

He was then arrested and taken to Maclean Police Station, before being released pending further inquiry.

An investigation is underway and police are urging any witnesses to come forward to police or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
