Melbourne man threatens police, kicks over wheelie bin, before he is pepper sprayed

A disturbing clip of an enraged man taunting police before being pepper sprayed in the face has gone viral.

The video shared to Twitter appears to show a man yelling at a group of police officers at a train replacement stop in Melbourne.

“I’ll tell you one more time, back up,” one police officer says, as the man approaches them in an aggressive manner.

The man, dressed in a navy shirt and white pants, then charges toward a cop, telling them that he will “b**ch slap” them, while making a slapping motion with his hand.

He yells to police to “try it then, c**t” before violently kicking over a wheelie bin.

Man's wild arrest caught on camera

“Back up,” the officer states again, holding what appears to be pepper spray.

The man continues to loudly yell incoherently, before again approaching the group of at least four police officers.

“Just do it then, ya filthy [unintelligible],” the man says.

As he walks away with his back to police, he is doused with what looks like pepper spray.

Using his shirt to wipe some of the product, he then angrily picks up some of his belongings that were on the sidewalk.

Walking towards police once again, he then disappears from the camera’s view – either from collapsing or voluntarily sitting – before he is surrounded.

“Spray me in the face again,” he can be heard saying, before sounding like he is about to spit.

It is not clear when or exactly where in Melbourne the shocking footage, posted by Twitter account Meanwhile in Melbourne, was taken.

The clip has been viewed almost 50,000 times in a matter of days.

Many in the commenters were shocked at what they saw in the clip, and others commended the police officers for their actions.

“I’m in Melbourne, the majority have been pushed to the limits,” one said.

“This is only the beginning of how the streets will be soon.”

“So glad I don’t live in Victoria,” one said.

“It used to be a nice place to live, these days not so much.”

“Great job by Victoria police,” another commented.

“I’ll give credit where credit is due. He wasn’t treated poorly or brutalised or beaten.”

“They should have sprayed him earlier,” one suggested.

“Gave him too many chances.”

News.com.au contacted Victoria police about the video however they were unable to confirm when or when the video was taken.

Last month, a man was charged with multiple offences following a dramatic citizen’s arrest conducted by a group of quick-thinking tradies.

Emergency services were called to a street on the Gold Coast after a man crashed a car into a pole.

The Ford Mondeo was allegedly stolen, and the 25-year-old driver was taken down by a group of tradies who saw him attempting to flee on foot.

The four men donning high-vis shirts restrained the man by sitting on his back until police arrived and arrested him.

In dramatic footage of the incident, the driver can be heard angrily muttering profanities at the men before one of the tradies tells him to “calm down”.
