Twiggy and Nicola Forrest’s non-binary child Sophia now faces wedding day heartache after the announcement of their parents’ shock split.
The billionaire couple announced their separation on Wednesday after 31 years of marriage, confirming in a statement they had decided to “live apart”.
Their adult child Sophia, a Home And Away actor, is preparing to tie the knot with fiancee Zara Zoe but they now face a wedding day attended by two recently separated parents.
Sophia posted about her idyllic life with Zara on social media just five days ago, with nothing to hint at their parents’ imminent announcement.
“Been holding this dump in for a while,” they captioned the post.
Just a month prior, another happy post featured on the actor’s Instagram feed.
“The difference a year makes,” Sophia captioned the post, which saw a comparison of two red carpet photos of the couple, taken a year apart.
Sophia and Zara got engaged in April 2022 but haven’t yet announced a wedding date.
“Oh me oh my, she proposed back. What a dream,” Sophia captioned a happy snap at the time.
Their parents’ break-up wasn’t the only big news for the actor this week, with the split coinciding with Sophia’s final appearance as Tegan on Home And Away.
Sophia also gave up their inheritance in 2017, when their mining billionaire dad declared most of his fortune will be donated to philanthropic causes and will not be inherited by his three adult children.
Sophia revealed they were happy not to be inheriting the fortune.
“Inheritance has never really made sense to me. You watch it tear families apart and it baffles me,” they told Nine Newspapers at the time.
“You’re not entitled to that money, you haven’t earned it, you haven’t worked for it — I don’t see why you think it should be yours. So we all agreed to give it all away.
“It’s a relief to know it’s not my problem. It’s going to better things. I don’t need it. I’m going to work and make it on my own.”
Twiggy and Nicola Forrest said “our friendship and commitment to our family remains strong” despite the break-up.
“There is no impact on the operations, control or direction of Fortescue, Minderoo or Tattarang,” the couple said in a statement.
“We will continue our shared mission to create and gift our wealth to tackle community and global challenges, as recently shown by last months’ donation of one-fifth of our Fortescue shareholding to Minderoo Foundation.”
