A series of cold fronts are expected to sweep from Australia from the west to the east, bringing rain and chilly temperatures across multiple states.
The band of cold weather will hit Western Australia’s southwest coast on early Monday morning, before a larger second cold front will envelop the entire western coast on Tuesday afternoon.
Over the next week, minimum temperatures in Perth will struggle to creep past 20C, with the mercury forecast to drop to 6C on Monday and 8C on Tuesday, Weatherzone reports.
A high chance of showers are predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday, with daily totals of up to 10mm.
The cold fronts will bring “showers and gusty winds” to Australia’s southern states, including Tasmania and southern Victoria on Monday.
However, onshore winds could see the rain extend to Queensland and the northeast coast of NSW, with the first of the rainfall experienced in eastern NSW on Sunday afternoon.
Heavily rainfall is expected in western and southern Tasmania over the next eight days.
A frosty temperature range of 10C to 16C is forecast for Monday, before temperatures tip to 8C and 14C on Tuesday, with potential hail and westerly winds of up to 35km/h.
Sydney’s Saturday reprieve from the winter chill, was short-lived, as showers hit the capital city on Sunday afternoon, totalling 1-5mm.
A slight chance of rain is currently forecast for Sydney on Monday, with a maximum temperature of 19C, and increasing to 21C on Tuesday, with minimums between 9C to 11C.
In Victoria, large parts of the state will receive light showers between 1 to 10mm from Tuesday.
In Melbourne, temperatures will struggle past 16C, and will drop to just 5C on Monday, and 4C on Wednesday.
As of Sunday afternoon, the Bureau of Meteorology had issued large-scale frost warnings for Monday morning.
Affected areas include Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast areas, with temperatures expected to plummet down to -1C.
Queensland will also receive rain from the same, with onshore winds bringing rainfall to parts of coastal Queensland on Tuesday.
The bulk of the showers will be felt on the state’s east coast, with possible rainfall of up to 4mm for Brisbane on Tuesday.
