Campbelltown shooting: Boyfriend’s tribute after girlfriend, Daniela Vergulis was allegedly shot

The boyfriend of a young woman who was allegedly shot alongside her mother in the driveway has issued a heartwarming tribute to the “bright, joyful, and strong” high achiever.

Daniela Vergulis, 22, and her mother Aleksandra Vergulis, 51, were allegedly gunned down in Adelaide’s northeast about 1.20pm on Saturday.

Ms Vergulis died at the scene.

Daniela sustained serious injuries. She was taken to Royal Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

A 51-year-old man has since been charged with murder and attempted murder.

On Monday, Daniela’s partner, Corey Stevens created a Gofundme to help support the recent law graduate’s physical and psychological recovery.

Mr Stevens said Daniela was “fighting for her life,” and all donations would go towards her “extensive medical, psychological, and wellbeing expenses”.

He also said Daniela was very close with her mother.

“Aleksandra 51, bless her heart and soul, who is no longer with us, supported and deeply loved her daughter through thick and thin,” he wrote in the campaign description.

“They truly were inseparable to one another.”

Mr Stevens also wrote about Daniela’s passion for the law and justice.

“Daniela and I would speak for hours each night talking about how she wanted to fight for justice and prosecute criminals, to make the world a safer and better place,” he wrote.

“She spoke of wanting to investigate the minds of criminals, to understand all the life events that lead up to the crimes they committed.

“Daniela won’t stop here, she will come back stronger and still fight for the lives of those in need!”

As of Tuesday morning, the campaign has raised $1655 from 21 donations, with the ultimate target of $20,000.
