Twisties Donut King Cinnamon Donut flavour lands on shelves

After much anticipation and excitement from fans, Twisties latest collaboration has landed on supermarket shelves.

The cult chip brand sparked a frenzy last month when it announced it was partnering with Donut King to release a flavour inspired by the bakery’s most popular treat – the cinnamon doughnut.

True to its name, the flavour offers rich cinnamon spice notes with a “deliciously sweet” undertone.

Wild new Twisties flavour lands on shelves

Twisties Brand Manager Melanie Saluni said the “anticipation and excitement” from consumers to get their hands on the collaboration “has been next level”.

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a wave of fans taking to social media to express their excitement to try our new flavour – so we’re super excited for fans to finally be able to try,” she said.

“The new Twisties Donut King Cinnamon Donut flavour is unlike any snack you’ve tried before and we can’t wait for our consumers to try them for the first time.”

Donut King Marketing Manager Raquel Hine said the iconic brand “couldn’t have been more excited when Twisties approached us to create a limited edition Twisties flavour”.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to bring new flavour experiences to sweet treat lovers and couldn’t of thought of a better combination than two iconic Australian brands coming together to create a snack that will deliver just that,” she added.

“Similar to Twisties, we are passionate about bringing a bit of fun and joy to Australians’ day to day lives, so we couldn’t have thought of a better Aussie favourite to team up with.”

As for the verdict? Well, so far, it’s mixed.

Danika-Jade, who posts to TikTok under the handle @thecakeupartist, was a fan.

“They’re like cereal. I like them! … You could eat a whole bag like nothing,” she said in a taste-test of the chip.

While Michael Jaimie, another TikTok user, shared his reaction to the snack: “I see the vision, I’m not sure about the execution.”

“If they had a bit more cinnamon on them, they’d be perfect,” he said, after tasting one.

“They’re good, but they’re not the best.”

The collaboration follows the success of Twisties’ “controversial” raspberry flavour earlier this year.

The “weird” flavour proved “too much” for some Aussies, with many declaring the fruit-flavoured chips a definite no-no.

Social media blew up as shoppers weighed-in with their thoughts on the sweet but savoury product.

“Not too sure about these,” one wrote on Facebook, as another added: “Sounds gross.”

“Personally, I feel that raspberry has no business being with a Twistie,” someone else said.

“Nah, this is too much, don’t mess with our Twisties,” another wrote.

Twisties Donut King Cinnamon Donut are priced from $2.70 for an 80g bag at Woolies, Coles, IGA as well as Ampol, BP and Coles express service stations and selected independent retailers.
