Moonee Ponds, Melbourne: Four reportedly stabbed, man arrested


Four people have been hospitalised after being stabbed on the street of an inner-city Melbourne suburb in broad daylight.

Police were called to an area near Puckle St, in Moonee Ponds, following multiple triple-0 calls reporting an “agitated” man assaulting people on the street about 1.15pm on Wednesday.

Local police and detectives arrested the man, 36, near the railway station.

Four people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 36-year-old man is in custody and is assisting with enquiries, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or with dashcam to come forward.
