South Hedland, Western Australia: Woman hospitalised after stabbing attack, man found dead

A woman has been seriously injured and a man is dead after another suspected domestic violence incident in Western Australia.

Police are investigating the incident at Mitchie Crescent in South Hedland. They were called to the home on Wednesday morning after hearing reports of an injured woman.

They arrived to find a woman in her 40s with stab wound injuries. She was rushed to hospital for treatment.

After further inquiries, police discovered a man’s body in the “immediate area”.

“His death is being treated as non-suspicious,” a WA Police spokesman said.

“Currently, detectives believe the man and woman are known to each other.”

Police believe there are no “active concerns” for the safety of the public.

Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

It’s the latest suspected domestic violence death this month.

Georgia Lyall, 32, and Tiffany Woodley, 35, were allegedly killed by their former partners.

Ms Lyall was shot dead in her Perth home by her ex-partner Luke Noormets, who then took his own life.

Ms Woodley was allegedly bashed to death by her former partner Peter Damjanovic at her Bedford home on August 7. Mr Damjanovic is facing a charge of murder.

A summit, organised by the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing chief executive Alison Evans will be held at Optus Stadium in Perth on August 31.
