A man charged with murder after allegedly shooting another man in the head at the weekend was out on bail at the time of the alleged crime.
Jacob John Dwyer appeared briefly before Midland Magistrates Court on Monday morning, the court being told the 35-year-old was on home detention bail when he allegedly killed James Deering.
Western Australia Police were called to Needham Rd, Wooroloo, in Perth’s outer east about 7.20am on Saturday after reports of a man being shot.
Mr Deering, 32, was found shot in the head and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital, but he died of his injuries on Sunday.
Appearing before magistrate Mark Millington on Monday, Mr Dwyer was read his new charge, and his bail application on his previous charges was revoked.
Those charges include possession of drugs, possession of drugs with intent to sell or supply
and possession of a trafficable amount of drugs with intent to sell.
Home detention bail on those charges was granted in June.
Mr Dwyer was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on November 22.
7 News reports Mr Deering was one of four men who arrived at property in a Toyota Rukus at the time of the incident, and after an alleged confrontation with the property owner, all four men fled in the same vehicle before realising one had been shot in the head.
They pulled over and the driver began to perform CPR, while two others in the car fled.
“The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and detectives are seeking dashcam vision showing either the movements of a blue Toyota Rukus wagon, with registration 1HZW 926 or any person seen walking or running on Needham Street, Wooroloo, between Liberton Rd and Dinsdale Rd, between 7.00am and 8.30am,” a WA Police spokesman said.
