Charges upgraded for Perth mum accused of stabbing daughter’s boyfriend

A Perth mother accused of stabbing her teenage daughter’s boyfriend with a kitchen knife after she caught them having sex has had her charge upgraded.

Jennifer Mui Len Chin, 47, briefly faced Armadale Magistrates Court on Wednesday where a charge of aggravated unlawful wounding was dropped and replaced with aggravated grievous bodily harm.

Ms Chin had to go into custody for her bail to be renewed for the new charge.

She is due back in court on January 22.

When she arrived at court, Ms Chin wore a mask to hide her face from the waiting media.

The court was previously told Ms Chin’s 14-year-old daughter snuck her boyfriend, who is the same age, into the family’s Parkwood home in the evening.

Ms Chin walked in on them having sex, then allegedly chased the boy around the house with a 20cm knife.

She allegedly stabbed the boy twice in the chest and twice in the back.

He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

The court previously heard Ms Chin is an accountant and also has a six-year-old child.

Under the terms of her bail, Ms Chin cannot contact the victim and is also not allowed to contact her daughter, but they can see each other under supervised conditions.
