Victoria, Crime: Woman charged after child allegedly filmed riding on car windscreen in Melbourne


A woman filmed allegedly driving with a child on the windscreen of her car through a Melbourne street has been charged after handing herself in to police.

Footage obtained by 7 News allegedly showed the child on the front windscreen of the car on Greendale Boulevard in Pakenham about midday on Sunday.

Witnesses reported seeing the grey Hyundai i30 allegedly reach speeds of up to 50km as it navigated the tight suburban streets of the city’s southeast.

The 27-year-old Dandenong woman presented herself to a police station later that afternoon before being charged with seven serious offences.

The charges include reckless conduct endangering life and serious injury, reckless and careless driving, and driving at a dangerous speed.

The woman, who was also charged of driving an unregistered vehicle, was granted bail to appear at Dandenong Magistrates Court next year.

Witness Stephen Pretty told Seven he confronted the alleged driver, stating: “I thought ‘That’s not fun, that’s extremely dangerous”.
