Morley, WA: Baby, woman found dead in suburban home

Council rangers were spotted taking a small dog away from a crime scene at a home in Perth’s inner north-eastern suburbs where a small child and a woman have been found dead.

Police were called to a property on Robinson Rd in Morley about 11.10am Monday, with a local council ranger arriving soon after to remove a small, white dog from the scene.

Upon officers arrival at the home, an adult female and an infant child were located dead, a WA Police spokesperson said.

As forensic officers searched the property throughout the afternoon, a neighbour watched on as a council ranger was seen taking a small white dog away from the property.

“(The road) was all blocked off by about six cop cars … then I seen a Ranger, and they brought a little dog out of the house,” Beth Tulloh, who lives on the same street, told reporters.

She said she heard sirens when police first arrived on Monday morning and was shocked to see the street turn into a crime scene.

“I feel for the whole family … it just doesn’t happen here. Very social, everyone walk,” she said.

“Major Crime Division detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the two deaths.”

A stretch of Robinson Rd immediately outside the single-storey home was closed off as forensic officers investigated.

Four detectives dressed head-to-toe in blue forensic jumpsuits spent more than an hour inside the property on Monday afternoon.

The house is about 50m away from Weld Square Primary School.

Parents who would normally use Robinson Rd to pick their kids up were being turned away by police who had the road blocked off.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who saw or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity of Robinson Road this morning, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online,” the police spokesperson said.

Local MP Amber-Jade Sanderson, who is also the state’s Minister for both Health and Mental Health, expressed her condolences on social media.

“Today, a terrible incident unfolded in Morley,” she wrote on her official Facebook page.

“We don’t know the circumstances yet and we must let the police investigate.

“If you or a loved one is struggling, please reach out for help.”

At the time of writing, police had not confirmed the ages of the woman or child, and had not revealed if anyone was being questioned over the double fatality.

Morley is about 10km northeast of Perth’s CBD.
