Durham body found: Adelaide man missing in Queensland outback found dead, Car bogged in bushland


The discovery of a man’s body has ended an extensive search and rescue effort in outback Queensland.

Emergency services were notified a 25-year-old Adelaide man was missing near Woomanooka Road in Durham after his car became bogged on Sunday morning.

The man and the 39-year-old Brisbane woman he was travelling with, walked for about thirty minutes before the woman decided to return to the cars.

A passing driver located the woman and the pair raised the alarm about the missing man.

Police launched an extensive land and air search of the area including SES volunteers and general duties officers, with assistance from two mustering helicopters.

After almost two days of searching, a helicopter located the man’s body around 5pm on Tuesday.

It was just 12km from the car.

Police have been in contact with the man’s family, and a police spokesperson said: “our thoughts are with them at this time”.
