Two popular dairy producers in Western Australia, known for their cheese and yoghurt respectively, have been bought by another local company as part of an expansion.

The Margaret River Dairy Company and Mundella Foods have reportedly been bought by The Cheeky Cow, which is based in Busselton in the state’s South West region.

Margaret River Dairy Company was operated by Manassen Foods, which was owned by Chinese Food giant Bright Foods Group, but closed down in August last year when a buyer could not be found.

The West Australian reports The Cheeky Cow is planning to move its operations to the Margaret River Dairy Company’s site in Metricup after a refit and upgrade.

There award-winning Margaret River Dairy Company’s origins go back to 1966, with Manassen buying the business in 2000.
