Girls girls aged 11-15 charged after Burwood Station brawl


Four young girls, including one as young as 11, have been charged over a vicious brawl at Sydney’s Burwood Railway Station on Saturday.

Footage of the incident uploaded to social media showed the group of girls screaming and throwing punches at two Asian women on the station platform, causing one of them to fall to the ground.

Members of the public and a nearby train guard are seen attempting to intervene.

NSW Police said in a statement that emergency services were called to Burwood Station at about 9pm on Saturday following reports of a brawl.

“On arrival, officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command were told three women — aged 27, 27 and 44 — and a 27-year-old man had been assaulted by a group of girls,” a spokeswoman said.

“Police arrested four girls at the scene who were taken to Burwood Police Station. Three girls aged 11, 12 and 14 were all charged with two counts of common assault, and a 15-year-old girl was charged with four counts of common assault.”

All four were granted conditional bail.

The 11-year-old and 14-year-old will appear before a children’s court next Monday, the 12-year-old will appear at a children’s court on February 26 and the 15-year-old will appear at a children’s court on February 14.
