Emily Willis is in a “vegetative coma”, with her family preparing for the worst.
The world famous porn star was rushed to hospital in February. She reportedly weighed just 36kg when she was admitted.
Meanwhile, her younger brother has hit back at claims she overdosed.
Litzy Lara Banulos, known in the porn industry as Emily Willis, was hospitalised last month after being found “unresponsive” while in a celebrity rehabilitation unit in Malibu. She was getting help for addiction.
Her younger brother took to the family’s GoFundMe to reveal his sister was in fact in a coma and “fighting for her life”.
Ms Willis’ family member said: “Regarding the reports of an overdose, we want to clarify that they are not accurate as far as the doctors and my family know.
“Emily was receiving the treatment and help she needed at the time of the incident to overcome her struggles. She retired from the adult industry nearly two years ago and had aspirations of success in other fields of entertainment.
“Those who worked with her in her new career path knew she had the potential to achieve her dreams.”
He said the purpose of the fundraising campaign was to help Emily receive the long-term care and cover any unexpected medical costs.
“Once again, thank you so much for all the kind words and donations. It warms the hearts of her loved ones to know how beloved she is by those who know her,” he said.
“Any kind of support is appreciated, and nothing is expected or taken for granted. Your support gives us strength to endure and remain steadfast for Emily. We want to express our gratitude to those who have donated, and please know that your generosity will greatly aid in Emily’s ongoing recovery process.”
Ms Willis is still considered one of the world’s most popular adult film actresses, having worked mostly with brands like Reality Kings and Evil Angel.
She won the title of female performer at the Adult Video News Awards in 2011, considered the “Oscars of porn” according to the New York Post.
In that same year, Ms Willis filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against two industry rivals, Gianna Dior and Adria Rae. She later received an apology and the suit was dropped in 2022.
She’s also acted in mainstream movies. Last year she appeared in the sci-fi film Divinity which also starred Bella Throne. The movie was premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
Ms Willis has also appeared in a gory Slipknot music video.
The actress has more than 2.2 million follows on Instagram and has interacted with social media stars including Mike Majlak and David Dobrik.
