Greenacre fire: Man charged over suspicious fire, CCTV captures moment Sydney factory fire


Shocking video has emerged from inside a suspicious fire that tore through a Sydney factory.

About 12.30am on February 5, 2023, firefighters were called to Roberts Rd in Greenacre following reports of a factory fire.

About 6.55am on Thursday, detectives executed searches of two properties in Sydney’s northwest and a 62-year-old man was taken into custody at a West Pennant Hills factory.

Police will allege in court the man deliberately lit the fire for the purpose of making an insurance claim and receiving financial compensation.

Police also released CCTV of the dramatic moment flames spread through the factory in the early hours of the morning.

Once the flames were extinguished, a crime scene was declared and police started investigating.

The 62-year-old man was charged with damaging property by fire to dishonestly make gains.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Burwood Local Court on April 9.
