Adelaide bride-to-be’s $2000 wedding dress lost after being left on roof of car

An Adelaide woman who lost her wedding dress when her fiance drove off with it on the roof of their car has offered a reward to get it back.

Lindel Cain, from Urrbrae close to the Adelaide Hills, is due to marry Tom Mitton next February.

The pair had gone to a storage facility in Burton, in the city’s north, to sort through some of their belongings.

Mr Mitton placed a box containing the $2000 dress on top of the car because he didn’t want it to be crushed by other items.

However, he forgot the dress was on the roof and drove off.

“We were pulling into Burnside Village (shopping centre in Adelaide’s inner east) when the penny dropped for him, and we quickly turned around and tried to retrace our steps,” Ms Cain said.

But to no avail. The dress has vanished somewhere along the 30km drive.

“Safe to say we lost it,” she told 7News Adelaide.

Ms Cain said she suspected they lost the $2000 garment on Port Wakefield Road, a major highway.

The couple have offered a $500 reward if anyone can help them find the dress.

But, Ms Cain said, she isn’t very hopeful of its return.

“It’s special and I guess I can replace the dress bit it’s more the frustration.”

She now has until February to find her prized dress, or get a new one.

Mr Mitton is keeping a low profile after the dress debacle.
