Woman allegedly stabbed in Alexandria gym, discharged from hospital

The woman who was allegedly stabbed by her ex-partner outside a Sydney gym has been released from hospital.

The 39-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her ex-partner Anthony Monteleone, 45, in the carpark of Crunch Fitness Alexandria on Wednesday.

She suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and upper body, and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The woman was released on Saturday morning.

Following the attack Mr Monteleone was charged with causing wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV) and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).

After evading police overnight, he turned himself in at Dee Why Police Station on Thursday morning.

At the time of the attack, the victim had taken out an AVO against Mr Monteleone, following a “brief relationship”.

He had an eight-week relationship with the woman, which ended in April, and subsequently had an AVO taken out against him when he continued to contact her after the relationship ended.

He remains in custody on remand, and will appear before the courts in July.
