BondiBoost’s new $155 ‘Infrared Bounce Brush’ blows Aussies away

Australians are raving about a new device that uses infrared heat to style hair, with many labelling it “game-changing”.

BondiBoost launched the “Infrared Bounce Brush” just 12 weeks ago, and already the item has proven so popular, the brand said it has “sold out” four times.

Its big point of difference is the “innovative” use of infrared heat, which clinical trials have proven causes less damage than traditional forms of heat styling, Amanda Genovese, the brand’s new product development manager, told news.com.au’s The Beauty Diary.

“We decided to create the Infrared Bounce Brush to give everyone the ability to create a sleek, bouncy hairstyle but with less damage than traditional heat tools,” she said.

“This was based on customer feedback and looking at what trends were coming to the beauty industry.

“At BondiBoost, we have always been innovators and the infrared technology gently heats the hair from within, rather than blowing hot air onto strands.”

'Game-changing' Aussie product that keeps selling out

It also features aloe-infused bristles to “add extra shine and reduce frizzy bits”, she added.

“We’ve seen lots of excitement and a huge uptake of the tool globally.

“Since launching earlier this year, it’s sold out four times globally, and that’s just on our direct to consumer channels.

“It doesn’t include the sold out rates at global retailers or stores here like Oz Hair and Beauty, Hairhouse and LOOKFANTASTIC as well as selected salons.”

‘Game-changing’: Device blows Aussies away

It’s one thing when a brand hypes up their own product, but it’s another when genuine customers share their honest thoughts, and some have described the new brush – which retails for $155 – as a “holy grail” beauty item.

Indy Clinton, the 2023 Australian TikTok creator of the year, recently described the latest BondiBoost tool as “hands down, my favourite new product,” in a video she shared using it on her blonde locks.

As a mum-of-three, one of the things she said she liked the most was the fact it was “so quiet”, a feat hairdryers are yet to achieve.

“Oh my God, I’ve never known how to curl my hair, it’s impossible, but look at that volume.”

Meanwhile mega fitness influencer and mother of three Tammy Hembrowrevealed she could style her bob hair cut in “under five minutes” using the gadget.

“Look at that shine,” she declared in a recent video. “And because its infrared, it’s gentle enough that you can use it daily”.

How-to-use the viral brush

The brush features a 42mm barrel for big, bouncy waves and a 360-degree swivel cord that makes it super easy to use.

While the infrared heating element can be adjusted between 120 and 220 degrees, so it can be adjusted to suit different hair types.

Unlike most styling tools, it is designed for use on dry hair, but you’ll still need to use a heat protectant to ensure tresses remain healthy.

“The infrared bounce brush helps to smooth and style the hair at the same time using ion technology,” Amanda said.

“This leaves the cuticle flat and smooth with less frizz and fly always.”

For those who like hair tools to come with a range of functions, the brush offers different styling options.

If you’re after “a sleek and swishier finish, wrap the dry hair around the heated hairbrush then slowly glide it down to your ends and curl inward”, she added.

But if you’re after a more glamorous look, pop the heated round brush under your hair at the roots.

“Then you want to hold it in place for 10 to 15 seconds and slowly glide down to your ends. Follow with Root Boost Volume Powder for maximum balance.”

For a wavy style, “wrap hair around the infrared bounce brush at a 45 degree angle and hold for 10 to 15 seconds”.

“Then twist your hair out for a looser wave finish.”

You could also try wrapping your hair around rollers and letting it set while doing your makeup for added bounce, a trick Indy used in her video.

Final review of the BondiBoost Infrared Bounce Brush’

Like many users of this new product, I was a little sceptical. After all, low-impact heat doesn’t usually go hand-in-hand with long-lasting results – especially on my fine hair.

But the brush has proved really handy on those in-between wash days when ordinarily my hair feels limp and flat.

“This tool is so quick and easy for creating bouncy blowouts, I can’t live without it,” declared one happy customer online – and I fully agree. It’s so very good.

It’s simple to use, highly effective, and best of all – it is pretty affordable. There’s not many hair tools you can buy for under $200 thesedays.
