NSW Police charge man after Sydney road rage horror


A man has been charged with manslaughter following an alleged road rage incident which left a man dead on a busy Sydney street.

The fatal incident happened on Jersey Rd in Blackett, near Mount Druitt, about 8.45am on Thursday as parents were dropping children at school nearby.

Police allege 27-year-old Rhyce Harding was dragged 100 metres down a busy road by a utility vehicle and left to die.

NSW Police said a man handed himself in at Mount Druitt Police Station about 6.30am Friday.

The 39-year-old man was charged with manslaughter, fail to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death, negligent driving (occasioning death), and dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous.

Police also seized a white Toyota Hilux on Mileham Street, Windsor and it will undergo forensic examination.

He was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Acting Inspector Shane Ranee from Mt Druitt Police Area Command told media the victim and alleged offender spoke with one another before the incident.

The victim is believed to have exited his vehicle after he was allegedly “threatened by the car following him”, Inspector Ranee said.

“Words were said,” the inspector said, before the driver of a white utility vehicle then allegedly crashed into the man.

“It’s devastating, for the victim’s parents, the victim’s family,” he said.

Paramedics desperately attempted to save the victim, who was wearing high-visibility workwear, but he died at the scene.

Photos from the scene show a red vehicle being towed away from the scene, which is believed to belong to the victim.

The driver left the scene and the police launched a large-scale hunt for the man.
