New footage of Adelaide Westfield shopping centre incident emerges

Security footage has emerged of a brawl where teenage boys allegedly wielded weapons at a major Adelaide shopping centre.

The incident happened about 3pm on Sunday when three boys allegedly approached another group at the Westfield Marion centre’s food court with expandable batons.

Tense scenes developed as shoppers and workers were warned about an armed offender being in the centre and advised to escape or hide. Police took lessons from the massacre at Bondi Junction Westfield, just months ago, as they responded to the incident.

Two teens aged 15 and another 16-year-old fled but were later arrested and all charged with assault, affray and aggravated robbery.

Footage of the teens alleged to be involved has now emerged. Its shows heated and frantic scenes near the food court.

The footage shows boys sprinting and two people allegedly holding weapons.

The three teenagers who were charged are scheduled to appear in court in July.

There were no reports of injuries from the altercation, but a 70-year-old woman and teenage girl suffered injuries during the evacuation process.

Heavily armed police rushed to the shopping centre as alarms blared and storefronts were locked down while the incident unfolded.

Social media footage quickly filtered out as shoppers and workers scrambled to refuge.
