Shocking video captures truck crash into Sydney school

Shocking footage has shown an out of control truck narrowly miss hitting people standing on the footpath before crashing into a school.

The people can be seen jumping aside as the truck careens past them.

In fact, the truck left a trail of destruction ploughing through 19 cars before it ended up in a Sydney school’s classroom.

The truck came to a stop inside the building at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School at Moorebank in Sydney’s southwest.

Luckily, the building was empty but a church on the site had earlier been hosting a busy baptism service.

The school has roughly 400 primary school students but they were empty as it was the weekend.

The truck driver was taken to hospital by paramedics after it took an hour to free him from the wreckage.

A woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 70s were also taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Liverpool City Police Area Command’s Acting Inspector Shaun Colls said more than a dozen people were impacted by the crash but no one was seriously injured.

“Considering the amount of vehicles that were involved, the level of damage to all vehicles, I was expecting a lot worse than minor injuries, it’s quite amazing,” he said.

“That’s including the driver himself – it’s a lucky day that no one was seriously injured.”

He urged drivers to check their dashcam footage if they were around at the time of the crash which happened around 1pm on Saturday.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers as investigations continue.
