Conscious Australians are on the hunt for everyday electrical appliances to help reduce their household’s carbon footprint and high energy bills.
With sustainable living undeniably on-trend, people can expect to reap big cost savings on products during this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
Since 2019, Kogan.com has seen a 300 per cent increase in customers searching for energy-efficient related products.
“We’re seeing particular interest in energy-efficient appliances like heaters, refrigerators and washing machines,” a Kogan.com spokesperson says.
Arno Lenior of Prime for Amazon Australia says slashing high energy bills was crucial.
“With cost of living top of mind, we know many Australians are seeking products that can help them save on household bills,” he says.
“Tech devices are a popular category on Amazon and we have a range of smart home products available to help Aussies be more energy efficient.”
Ahead of summer, pedestal fans are up 65 per cent on eBay this month compared to last month, as “Aussies turn away from using air-conditioning in favour of a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly option,” eBay Australia’s Sophie Onikul says.
Despite the wallet squeeze, Australian consumers won’t budge on sustainability, according to new Shopify data.

More than 50 per cent say they shop sustainably now, while 39 per cent are willing to pay more for sustainable products and 61 per cent are more likely to recommend a brand, product or service from a sustainable company.
“More than half of Australians we surveyed are looking to prioritise sustainable products and brands during Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales,” Shaun Broughton of Shopify says.
