Pink reveals 16kg weight gain

Pink revealed she gained around 16kg by noshing on sourdough during the pandemic, but she was able to shed the weight and now feels stronger than ever.

“Having breaks is good for my voice. Not so good for the body,” Pink told Variety in an interview published Thursday. “Especially during Covid — I gained 36 pounds (16kg). All I did was make sourdough and then eat the sourdough.”

The US singer added that she also underwent hip surgery and a double disc replacement procedure in her neck, making things all the more difficult on her body.

But Pink, 43, said she managed to drop the extra weight and is now “the bionic woman.”

“I’ve lost those 36 pounds, and I am stronger than I’ve ever been in my life,” she shared. “And I’m ready to go [on tour], and I’m ready to get the hell out of here. I’ve been home way too long.”

The Grammy winner first discussed how she was recovering from surgery in November 2021.

“I am never not completely grateful. It was a brutal first week full of tears and pain med depression, ulcers from meds and constant fevers,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “It is humbling for a very independent person like myself to be rendered physically unable and dependent, even if for a couple of months.”

She continued, “I’m learning the gift of accepting help. My journey will be quick and intentional, and I will make a full recovery. For that I am so blessed.”

It hasn’t been an easy few years for Pink, who shares two kids — daughter Willow, 11, and son Jameson, 6 — with her husband, Carey Hart.

She and Jameson contracted extreme cases of Covid in early 2020, and Hart, 47, battled a chest infection that resulted in him needing a catheter last year.

“Well this sucks. Found out a couple days before Christmas that I have an infection in some old hardware in my body,” the professional motorcyclist wrote on Instagram last month. “After stressing my brains out through the holidays, I got this tunnelled catheter installed in my chest. Now for the next 41 days I have to inject antibiotics to knock this sucker out.”

Weeks before getting the infection, Hart underwent surgery on his neck to fuse vertebrae and fix an issue with his joints.

The family also dealt with the loss of Pink’s father, who died of prostate cancer in 2021.

“I know sometimes I have a tendency to remember the bad s**t. I want to try to hold on to the good; there was a lot of good,” Pink said of her relationship with her late dad in a recent interview with Women’s Health.

Pink was able to explore her emotions while making her new album, Trustfall.

“I feel like we’re all in this constant state of overwhelm, and so we put our feelings away just so that we can get through a day,” she told Variety in the new interview. “I wanted to find a way back to the truth and the authentic feelings.

“ … That’s how I am as a person,” she continued. “If you ask me how I am, how much time do you have?”

Trustfall will be released today.
