Aldi, Coles release affordable versions of designer bouclé

Two major supermarkets are launching their own furniture items using a popular designer trend.

Hot ticket bouclé products – that were must-have designer items last year – will be available at both Coles and Aldi.

Coles launched its home furniture Best Buys range online on Friday, with a $49.99 bouclé chair and a $39.99 ottoman on offer.

The soft, looped fabric has been hugely popular in homewares, with a three-seater sofa covered in the material costing as much as $3600 and a two-seater costing up to $2900.

Many shoppers have declared they’re eager to get their hands on the products online.

The Aussie retailer’s homewares range also includes items such as rugs, mirrors, bar carts, side tables, clocks and other home decor.

It comes as Aldi is also is set to launch its own bouclé furniture items.

First up from the German supermarket chain is a bouclé fabric round swivel chair, which will sell for $199, as part of its highly anticipated Special Buys drop on March 15.

On the same date, a bouclé storage ottoman and a queen size bed head, both being sold for $99, will also be available.

And the supermarket also hasn’t forgotten about your furry friends with a bouclé memory foam pet bed set to drop on March 18.

The bouclé trend began last year and has snowballed in popularity.

In January 2022, Kmart released its sundae bouclé chair for just $99 and it became an instant hit with customers.

The trendy furniture item was described as “cool” and “cute” by excited shoppers.

Six months later, Kmart released its updated version – the bouclé swivel chair priced at $349.
