Monkey Club: Melbourne swingers’ club amends entry rules after backlash

A Melbourne swinger’s club dubbed “Australia’s most exclusive” is enforcing new entry rules on its invite-only guests.

The Monkey Club, which you enter through one of the city’s famed laneways, reportedly sparked outrage after its strict conditions of entry were made public last year.

While there was a slew of wild rules for those who entered the joint – located in the leafy suburb of Kew – on the look out for sex must adhere to, it was the adult-only venue’s disturbing size requirements for its female guests that irritated Aussies.

Before any woman could even set foot through the door, she had to prove she was a size 6 to 10 by submitting pictures of themselves in a bikini or undies holding papers showing the date the picture was taken, The Herald Sun reported at the time.

Men too were upheld to wild body standards, with the club stating they “must not carry excess kilos around the waist or stomach”.

Following an immense backlash though, the sex club appears to have had a change of heart, recently revealing an updated list of rules that amended its sizing requirements on guests.

But before you get too excited (pun intended), the sizing is still far from inclusive.

Men with dad bods don’t meet standards as the website states guys must be “slim, athletic or muscular”, while women within the 8-12 size range are now welcome, a new report from The Herald Sun states.

Both men and women need to be aged between 21 and 35 and are asked to submit photos with strict instructions that ban “breathing in” and “sunglasses”.

“We DO NOT expect you to be a super model,” the site reads.

A couple still wanting to attend will need to pay $150 for one night at the club, while a single man will have to pay $180 and a single girl $80.

Showering on entry is also compulsory, with the website warning against bad hygiene.

“Please make sure your personal hygiene is 150 per cent, this includes body odour, breath and genitals (Front & Back),” it states.

“Please note, anybody not adhering to the latter, will be asked to rectify or asked to leave.”

There’s also a dress code, banning jeans for women and instead suggesting a “little black number”, while men are told to be “smart casual”.

“From the moment you arrive, you will see it is like the interior of a five-star hotel,” the website reads.

“Upon your arrival you will be given a guided tour of the venue, which is spread over two floors, and consists of mainly open plan play areas.

“The very seductive 5-star environment is furnished with imported furniture from the UK, France and Japan, and artwork from the four corners of the globe.”

There are reportedly plenty of king- and queen-sized beds throughout the “play” areas, as well as an infamous 1960s Austin Power’s style round bed.

The swingers club also boasts “so many other intriguing and erotic items too numerous to mention”.
