Woolworths selling luxury tubs of black caviar for $6 in store

A luxury item at one supermarket has attracted social media attention after shoppers discover its $6 price tag.

Kelly and her husband Habib run the Arvan Family TikTok account together, with the couple discovering a 50 gram Holland House Caviar Black for just $6 at Woolworths.

“Say no more,” Kelly said, as the couple taste tested the lumpfish caviar that typically sells for $120 a kilogram.

The couple were doing a road test using the caviar, Doritos and creme fraiche after seeing another social media user do the same.

“I was in Woolworths the other day, and I was getting salmon and I saw that they had caviar in the salmon section,” Kelly explained to the couple’s followers.

“I could not believe it so I picked it up.”

Kelly used a metal spoon to divvy up the caviar among the chips, going against custom, as she didn’t have another utensil.

The pair looked amazed as they tried it, turning to each other in delight as they finished their first taste test.

“Run, don’t walk,” Kelly said.

As of 2019, Swedish lumpfish black caviar sold for $120 a kilogram, but the luxury item’s most expensive version – Iranian Beluga – has a price tag of more than $10K.

Social media users reacted to the video, with many eager to get their hands on it.

“Hilarious, cute, I’m going to Woolies,” one social media user commented on the clip.

Another joked that it had the “Arvan family seal of approval”.

One said: “I bought this the other day but I was so nervous to try it. You guys make it look yummy.”

However, not everyone agreed with one person you could tell the difference between the caviar and more expensive versions.

The product is sold in 630 stores around the country all year around.

A Woolworths spokesperson told news.com.au: “With great value caviar, you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a little luxury.

“At $6, that’s a catch worth celebrating.”
